Some of my goals for next year include being able to read material faster while retaining the information, improving my skills in writing long essays, and practicing poetry more and improving my skills. There is only one way that I can increase the speed of my reading, read more. Hopefully, with summer coming up, the summer reading will help me do just that. To improve my skills for writing long essays, I will try my best to seek help from a tutor who will hopefully be able to help me in that area. I will continue to write poetry on personal problems over the summer to improve my skill.

Some areas that I need to improve on are my research skills and my ability to stay focused while writing. These things have been somewhat difficult for me to do throughout this year. Being able to focus on the topic you're writing about while writing is very important because if you get sidetracked you could forget about what you were going to write about next. Research is also very important, especially in high school, because whenever there are projects like our recent research project, you need to be able to find material that is helpful towards your topic.

My main strengths in writing are mainly in the poetry area of English. I found out about my skill in this area by completing the poetry assignments in our idea books. These assignments were where we were instructed to write a poem about a color and a feeling that would typically be familiarized with the color. Later in the class we also had to look at a set of emoji's and describe the "story" that these emoji's described. Throughout these prompts I realized I was surprisingly good at writing poetry. Evidence: "Prospering Man" In the dawn, on the field, where the willows flow with the wind A man lay, tall and thin On his face a long, broad grin For he had finally taken time from his busy life To appreciate all that was good and right To stand would be a waste of good energy If he moved he would venture out of serenity To leave this placid, peaceful place Could surely be classified as a disgrace For he was the last of the human race

This year I have learned that I am actually great at writing poems. At the beginning of the year, I thought that I was terrible at everything in English and that I would fail right away. To my surprise I found that I had the ability to write a really good poem. Although poetry was not the first thing I thought I'dm ben any good at, it's not the worst part of English. I have made improvements in my writing of essays, poems, and most of the assignments since the beginning of the year.

I am a writer who likes to take his time while writing for an important assignment and sometimes it takes me a little too long for me to finish. I'm a writer who likes to write poems. I am not to fond of essays or other long pieces of writing. While I'm writing a poem, I like to focus on the things that relate to or differ from the topic I'm writing about. Whether the topic is simply a color, or a complex a specific person, I will focus on the topics' characteristics. rom then on, the words start to flow onto the page.

For my second semester Writing Center appointment, I met with Mrs. Julia Spaht to revise my Literary Analysis. My main issues in the essay were organization and ideas. We spotted several times where my organization was a bit off. Some of my transitions from paragraph to paragraph were a little choppy, so we switched around the order of some of the sentences to make it flow smoothly.
